Non-Maternity Maternity 'Fits
Learning to dress my second trimester body has been no short of a steep learning curve. What once looked good doesn't quite fit the bill anymore. And then there's the obvious fact that your body will continue to grow and expand and so what fits now may certainly not in a couple weeks. I've tried some of the maternity specific clothing out there and it's just not it. They seem to be made mostly for the third trimester (aka too roomy for now and you won't be able to wear them after and beyond), they're more expensive and they can be a bit matronly looking. I've scoured the internet looking for non-maternity maternity clothing and I'm happy to report that I've found some good pieces that I can't help but share (bonus: these are great for non-pregnant bodies too!) I prefer a more bodycon look when it comes to dresses and skirts. I feel like flowy, billowy silhouettes will make me look larger since I'm 5'10". I should also add, I've tried on or own all of these so I can 100% vouch for them. I'll be sure to add more as I find them!
Shirts:
Little Moon Sail Shirt: great for throwing over dresses or wearing with loose pants
Babaton Archive Shirt: same as above
Uniqlo Crew Neck T-Shirt: great for tucking into skirts and pants (I have it in white and it's not see-through at all - love the thicker weight of the fabric)
Pants and Jumpsuits:
Babaton Tribute Pant: feel like pyjamas! So soft and lightweight. Can be dressed up or down.
Uniqlo Linen Cotton Tapered Pants: these have an elastic waist in the back and a hidden drawstring in the front so lots of room for growth. Can be dressed up or down
Old Navy Linen-Blend Pants: I just bought these and will admit they are a little scratchy (I'm going to throw them in the wash and see if that softens them up.) But they are a great price and very flattering. (The key to pants is to find ones that don't have a lot of bunch fabric around the waist.)
Golden Butter Essential Jumpsuit: on my wishlist, looks great with oversized dress shirt
Golden Butter Essential Romper: same as above
Dresses and Skirts:
Wilfred Fortune Dress: can be dressed up or down and comes in lots of colour. The tie at the waist is super flattering.
H&M Jersey Bodycon Dress: basically a cheaper version of the dress above and without the tie. I ended up buying this one for budget reasons.
The Group by Babaton Tomorrow Skirt: the perfect lightweight stretchy skirt and comes in a couple staple colours. I bought it in black.
The Group by Babaton Retreat Dress: if you like the bodycon look
Wilfred Accompany Dress: again, if you like the bodycon look
The Gap Maternity Sweater Dress: the only maternity piece I actually bought. Super soft and comfy, I wish I had sized down though (bought medium but because it's maternity it's a bit big)
Old Navy Rib-Knit Dress: love this find (I bought it in green).
