My Holiday Baking List
(last year's holiday baking)
With the last week before Christmas, it's time to get holiday baking. I just wrote in this post here that I tend to overdo it with holiday baking. I love perusing my cookbooks, magazines and Pinterest to find recipes but I find there are so many things I want to make and as a perfectionist, I have a really hard time choosing just 3-5 recipes out of the 20 that I have bookmarked. What if those aren't the "perfect" recipes? Is this selection the perfect balance of crunchy, chewy and soft? Which cookies are going to look the best together? Should I make this eggnog shortbread recipe or this eggnog sugar Christmas cookie? Should I ice them in buttercream frosting or classic royal? I wrote so many lists trying to decide what to bake this year - I even made a couple diagrams lol. All this to say, I clearly have a problem making decisions - simple ones like what Christmas cookies to bake. So, here I am making my final decision (and allowing things to pivot if need be). A friend recently said "you are choosing between great options". It was about something entirely unrelated but it still applies. I'm making some old classics and adding in some new ones too.
Peanut Butter Balls (on the blog here)
Spice Sugar Cookies (find the recipe here)
Pecan Shortbread (the recipe my mum uses, found here - can't go wrong with Ina)
Eggnog Fudge (from a Magnolia magazine but I found it online here)
Espresso Crinkle Cookies (also from a Magnolia magazine and a screenshot here)
Spice Nuts (from a Canadian Living magazine but this recipe looks similar)
